Introduction
The following WSH training courses are conducted by
AHSTP is for workers level only for both foreign and
Local workers. The courses will be conducted in English
/ Tamil / Bengali languages. Note : Participants who
attending the course must be able to read &
understand the language and must sit for an exam .
A)The Shipyard Safety Instruction Course for
Workers (General Trade)
This is a 8-hour course.
The course is to familiarize new shipyard workers on the
common safety hazards associated with shipyard work and
the precautionary measures to be taken to avoid
accidents. By the end of the course, participants would
be able to understand the shipyard’ safety systems
including the permit-to-work system, precaution when
working in confined space. AHSTP will issue SSIC
Certificate (General trade) to the participants who
has completed the one day course and passed the
examination.

B) The Construction Safety Orientation Course
(General trade) for Workers
This is an 8-hour course
is for all construction workers . The course is to
familiarize new workers the common hazards relating to
construction work and the precautions to be taken to
avoid accidents. Emphasis will be given on the measures
to be taken to prevent workers from falling from
heights. AHSTP will issue CSOC Certificate (General
Trade) to the participant who has completed the one
day course and passed the examination.

C) The Construction Safety Orientation Course for
Workers (Tunneling)
This is a 4-hour course for
construction workers that assigned to work in tunnel or
underground works. All construction workers permit
holders must complete the Construction Safety
Orientation Course (CSOC) first before taking this
course. The course is to familiarizes tunnel workers on
the tunnel works hazards, compressed air works,
locomotive and others relating to the tunneling works
and to take precautions to be taken to avoid accidents.
CSOC (Tunneling) Certificate is issued to
participant who has completed this half day course and
passed the examination.

D) Building Construction Supervisor Safety Course (BCSS)
This is a 32 hour course. This course is for participants who will be trained to understand safety in a proper way and to identify hazards in a construction site. Learn about the best practices to keep construction sites and workers safe. Gain more knowledge about what can you do to prevent hazards and accidents from happening. Find out about improvements in losing fewer man hours and to be able to complete projects on schedule with minimal work stoppage. By the end of the course, the participant will be familiar with their roles and responsibilities, the safety hazards in the construction industry and be competent to supervise the implementation of preventive measures for safe work.
